Biography
Rodney is a native Memphian who supports the marketing and communications officer to augment the presence of the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music and its efforts to promote the arts. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration with a marketing emphasis from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Currently, he is pursuing his master’s in journalism and strategic media at the University of Memphis. His professional expertise is in communications, public relations, and digital marketing from interning in the nonprofit sector and e-commerce. When Rodney is not working, he enjoys spending time at home and watching a good movie.

Professional experience
Dr. James Keel Williams currently serves as bassoon faculty at Missouri State University where he teaches applied lessons. Prior to his appointment, he held faculty positions at the Music and Dance Academy at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance and the Community Music School at the University of Memphis. He also serves as Third and Contrabassoon with the Springfield Symphony, Second Bassoon with the Springfield Regional Opera, and Second Bassoon with the Kinnor Philharmonic.
As a soloist, Williams has performed concertos with the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, the Conservatory of Music in Shanghai, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Symphony Orchestra. A champion for new music, Williams has also commissioned many new works for the bassoon. These endeavors have allowed him to perform at a variety of venues across the country, including multiple national conferences.
